Wildcrafted Pine Salve

$ 11

From climbing to working to gardening, your hands have it rough. Smooth and soothe them with our gentle pine salve. This recipe includes olive oil infused with white pine needles from our property.

For centuries, Native American tribes used all parts of a pine tree for medicinal purposes. The Abenaki, Iroquois, Micmac, Mohegan and Shinnecock tribes used a bark decoction for coughs and colds. The Algonquins used tree bark as a poultice for colds and the Chippewas used it to treat cuts and wounds. The Delaware and Ontario tribes relied on pitch pine to make a drawing salve.

In Connecticut, we have White Pine, a shorter scruffier tree than its western cousin the Ponderosa. Today, pine needles and bark are harvested and dried for use in teas, tinctures, and infused oils. Pine resin, often referred to as the golden jewel of the pine tree, is considered to contain incredible healing properties.

White Pine has anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, expectorant, diuretic, antibacterial, stimulant, antispasmodic and astringent properties.

Ingredients: Infused pine olive oil, coconut oil, beeswax, essential oil.
