Our Story

A love for her daughter

For Katie Bug

My name is Brenda Sullivan, and I am the owner of a small herb farm in South Glastonbury, CT. Throughout the years, I've relied on homegrown herbs to support a natural lifestyle. While my journey from garden enthusiast to full-blown herb farmer wasn’t easy, it has been incredibly rewarding.

A love of plants was one of the things that drew me and my late husband, Paul, together early in our relationship. From root to flower, we enjoyed getting to know every aspect of a plant to help it grow to its fullest potential. Our daughter, Katie, taught us the true power that exists in naturally grown ingredients.

Katie was born with severe developmental disabilities and had extreme sensitivities to harsh chemicals. After struggling to find the right products for her, I discovered goat’s milk soap. Its naturally gentle properties agreed with Katie’s skin, leading me to learn soap-making myself.

Despite the challenges, Katie benefited greatly from natural living and years of therapy. I've experienced firsthand how gentle products can transform lives, and I want to share the power of natural living with you.

Thank you,

Brenda

The Farm Continues On In memory of her

If you've purchased one of our soaps, you may have noticed the small bug on the side of the label. This little detail was created as a tribute to our daughter, Katie, or "Katie Bug" as we liked to call her. This bug is in memory of her. Join me in remembering my sweet baby girl Katie.

Honoring their legacy

For Katie + Paul

I lost Katie, my daughter, in March and Paul, my husband, in July 2023. To honor their memory, I've established the Paul and Katie Sullivan Memorial Fund. This initiative reflects our family's cherished hiking experiences together and Katie's deep love for the outdoors. Despite her developmental disabilities, Katie found joy and comfort in nature, a passion that inspires my work today.
